Not all wells behave the same way. Some, known as flowing wells or artesian wells, naturally push water to the surface due to underground pressure. This might sound great, but it requires special handling.
What is a flowing well?
A flowing well is a pressurized groundwater source that doesn’t require a pump to bring water to the surface. While rare, they do occur in certain regions of Ontario.
Are they a problem?
If unmanaged, flowing wells can lead to flooding, property damage, or water wastage. They also pose contamination risks if not properly sealed.
How we manage them:
- We install proper surface seals and flow control devices
- We follow provincial containment regulations
- We document and report to local authorities as required
With Canadian Soil Drilling, a flowing well isn’t a problem—it’s just another condition we’re fully prepared to handle.
